The Arcade Project at Gaffa Gallery
Gaffa Gallery, in its new Clarence St, City location is home to 'The Arcade Project'. The building used to be the city police station and 'The Arcade Project' is housed in the old holding cell area. Four little rooms that open onto an arcade. Gaffa rents out each room to an artist/stylist/object maker etc for a 3 month period. The tenant can do what they like with the room- use it to sell wears or simply use it as a gallery/'conceptual space. Gallery staff look after the rooms when the gallery is open. Currently the tenants include: industrial designer Andrew Simpson, interior stylist Emma Elizabeth and stylist duo Bams and Ted. The photos above are of Bam and Teds' transformation of the room, taking inspiration from the film Picnic at Hanging Rock. All the items in this room are available to buy. Across their 3 month tenancy, the duo will transform the room 2 more times- in March the inspiration will be How to Catch a Thief and in June we will see Murder She Wrote inspired wears.
