Light feature done the right way.
So, I had a rant previously about a lighting feature in an optometrists which was completely out of place. I was at the Customs House library over the weekend and had to take the above photos. In the newspaper/magazine section of the library on ground floor, strangley enough, the same lighting feature has been used but in a way that totally works with what happens in the area surrounding the fixture. The paper squares attached to the prongs are carefully cut rectangles of aged newspaper and pages from old books. Now that makes much more sense. The feature makes its' full impact.
Overall, the Customs House library has some great design and architectural features and is well worth a visit, down at Cirqular Quay on Albert St.
