RA Antwerp
Loving the influx of concept fashion stores- one stop places in which you can while away hours, looking at amazing garments, amazing art, amazing instore design and then a few more hours browsing records and literature whilst sipping coffee and nibbling away at the instore cafe space. One newish on the scene is RA in Antwerp, Belguim, more of a platform than a retail space. Very inspiring. See more here: ra13.be/

Humlegården Apartment
Tham & Videgård Arkitekter are a design practice in Sweden who have great vision and the ability to completly transform the idea of what a building can be. The Humlegården Apartment overlooks a park, so the designers decided that the changing colour of the foilage would be the inspiration for this space. The parquet flooring graduates in colour thoughout, from winter grey and black, to bright and deep green in summer, to orange, red and yellow during autumn. The T&V team are highly regarded in the architectural world, snagging covers of industry magazines, winning awards, running exhibits and lectures and getting involved the Venice Bienale, which started yesterday.
They were the brains behind the Treehotel- a camoflagued treehouse for 2. Amazing.

Nightwood NY
In my (online) travels today, I stumbled on Nightwood, a furniture, homewears and textiles store in Brooklyn NY. Such a raw but soft feeling, so part of the 'modern rustic' look that's happening everywhere. They recreate furniture, upholster and create little mini artworks by stiching onto muslin and canvas and gauze (I love their range of flags/wall hangings). They also fit out stores and cafes. Nice work.

Meet Me At Mikes Fitzroy
A cheery window display from key Melbourne retailer Meet me At Mikes on Brunswick St. I stumbled into their world years ago when I started following Mike's blog, written by store owner, craft minx, author and mum Pip Lincolne. She is well known amongst Frankie magazine readers, supports people with arts and crafts inclinations and seems like a geniunely lovely person. The shot below the window shot is of the front door, which has been covered in pages from childrens books, old craft magazines etc. The paste up gives it an extra punch of Melbourne aesthetic (not sure if the artist was asked to do this or it happened on the sly).
Warm fuzzies.
alpha 60
The monochrome cool feel of the Melbourne label Alpha 60 follows through all their retail spaces (Alphaville). This is a shot of their front display for their Brunswick St store. Sparse but interesting. I can't help but feel the poor mannequin needs some shoes or socks- it must be cold on that concrete!
Hermes Collins St
The Paris end of the Melbourne CBD is home to many beautiful fashion houses, including Hermes. I am loving their current window display- fresh and fun, highlighting the Hermes iconic brand of orange. Just goes to show you don't need to have a big budget to make displays with impact. You need creativity, attention to detail and a thorough understanding of the brand you are creating the message for.
Melbourne Boys
Flowers Vasette, Brunswick St
Another quirky display from a Melbourne florist. Walking past Flowers Vasette in Fitzroy last weekend, I was stopped in my tracks by the beautiful scent drifting out from this store. Then I was further drawn in by the amazing flowers and colours and displays. Sensory overload! This store is beautiful and the work they do is amazing.

Mr Lincoln, Gertrude St
I took this snap of the window display at Mr Lincoln, a beautiful florist situated on Gertrude St, Fitzroy. Toilet rolls layed out in the shape of a heart. Awwww, warm and fuzzies.
Check out mrlincoln.com.au for some beautiful images- I swear the smell of the flowers permeates through the computer screen.
Sportsgirl Bourke St Mall
Sportsgirl's Bourke St store in Melbourne doesn't have a traditional window display set up- they have more of a display area at the front of the store, in which the creatives (most often from the inspirin gteam at Gloss) set up amazing installations that the customers can wander through and marvel at the display in 360 degrees. The current installation has a nice sentiment- "wihout the rain there would be no rainbow" is a positive take on the chilly Melbourne winter weather. Simple idea, executed to an excellent level, with maximum impact of colour and scale.
